Compared to conventional wastewater technologies generating low value sludge that may simply end up being landfilled, our process produces a biomass that is rich in nutrients and that generates a secondary revenue stream. This secondary revenue stream allows us to pass on savings to our customers for their wastewater treatment costs. For example, our biomass is ideal for incorporation into high-value fertilizer. Depending on the wastewater being treated, it might be suitable for organic fertilizer manufacturers. This nutrient product would be a substitute for soybean meal, a common source of nitrogen in organic fertilizers. The biomass produced in our system can be separated into an energy-rich fraction and a nutrient-rich fraction (See below). We can market the energy-rich fraction as a biological feedstock to bio-energy and bio-plastic producers. The nutrient-rich fraction can be utilized for fertilizer and animal feed production.
Biomass SpecificationsThe biomass that is produced by the Algal Scientific Hypertrophic™ Waste Water Treatment™ process varies based upon the wastewater source. In most cases it will be primarily an algal community dominated by one of our specially selected strains. As a feedstock for fertilizer on a dry weight basis, the composition is approximately 9% nitrogen and 3% phosphorus. Contact us for more information at INFO@AlgalScientific.com. |
